Meet Mrs. Roark
I
I would like to extend a warm welcome to first grade! My name is Mrs. Roark, and I will be your child’s first grade teacher. We have an exciting and positive year planned where there will be many new things to explore and discover. I hope to be a guide to your child as they embark on this new and exciting adventure. This year will be filled with many learning opportunities that will promote growth academically and socially.
First, I would like to begin by sharing a little about myself. This will be my third year teaching first grade at Lake in the Hills Elementary School. I graduated from Northern Illinois University in May 2013, and I am currently working on getting my ESL Endorsement. During my studies at NIU, I gained some amazing student teaching opportunities. I worked in DeKalb, Saint Charles, and Huntley. My student teaching concluded in Huntley where I student taught for a year in first grade. During my student teaching, I absolutely fell in love with first grade and I hope that your child does too!
One reason I love first grade so much is that students develop and grow a lot over the course of one year. It is wonderful to watch them take off as they expand their knowledge and learn new things! I promise to do whatever I can to help your child succeed in first grade. To help achieve this, I love to have open communication with families since my students are my priority. With that in mind, please feel free to contact me at any point if you have any questions or concerns about something going on in the classroom or with your child specifically.
I know we are going to have an amazing year, and I look forward to working closely with you and your child!
